If you have a freestanding umbrella it should not exceed 7.5 feet for a 50 lb. base. It is also important to know the diameter of your umbrella pole. This patio umbrella stand can hold a pole up to 1 5/8 inches. Since this base is made of durable cast aluminum you can be sure it will last.
